Statholdergaarden is a listed building from 1640, and it was first owned by Peter Grüner. The house was situated in the new district called Kvaderaturen. The area was built by Christian IV after the great city fire in 1623.

The place is now used as a restaurant namet after the building. Statholdergaarden received 1 star in the Michelin Guide in 1998.
